It's Tequila Time

Tequila is one of the most popular and most potent spirits in the US. With an alcohol content of 40%, it’s a party classic. But what do you really know about tequila? We’ve made a list of a few fun facts about tequila that will make you wow your friends!

Fun Fact #1 - Tequila must only be made from a single type of agave plant (not a cactus!): the blue Weber Agave.

Fun Fact #2 - Tequila is made by steaming the heart of the agave plant and is distilled in copper pots twice, which gives tequila its smooth and clean flavor.

Fun Fact #3 - Check your labels! Tequila has three main categories based on age and distillation: Blanco/Silver/White (aged 0-2 months), Reposado (aged 2-12 months), or Anejo (aged 1-3 years)

Fun Fact #4 -  Tequila drinkers in Mexico sip their drink to savor the distinct taste and flavor of the spirit, instead of downing a shot with lime and salt.

Fun Fact #5 - In the early 1900’s, Tequila was used to cure the Spanish flu epidemic. Nowadays, tequila still has properties of soothing a sore throat and ease congestion.

Fun Fact #6 - Tequila is actually named after a city in the Jalisco region of Mexico, wherein most tequilas are made.
